Joana Lobo Vicente

Joana Lobo Vicente is currently working as an expert in chemicals, environment and human health at the European Environment Agency, in the HBM4EU project. Its aims are to coordinate and advance human biomonitoring in Europe and provide better evidence of the actual exposure of citizens to chemicals and the possible health effects to support policymaking.
Previously, she worked as a Scientific Officer at the Joint Research Centre (European Commission) with metabolomics, new psychoactive substances and proficiency tests involving BPA for Food Contact Materials.
Joana has a degree in Chemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She did her MSc in Forensic Science, and her Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry at King’s College London. She is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists, and the Portuguese Chemistry Society. She was a board member of PARSUK, the Portuguese Association of Researchers and Students in the UK. An association whose aim is to promote and defend the interests of their members in the UK, strengthening their integration and visibility in the country, and to promote development strategies between the two countries. Joana is currently in the process of implementing a similar association in Nordic Europe: SPOT Nordic – Society for Portuguese Professionals & Researchers in the Nordic Countries.
